About Ahmed Essam El Sayed:
Ahmed Essam El-Sayed is one of Egypt’s freshest rising stars — an actor, writer, and stand-up comedian making serious moves across stage and screen.
A graduate of the Higher Institute of Cinema in Cairo, his first audience didn’t see him on a screen — it was in a live event. Before acting, Ahmed cut his teeth in Egypt’s stand-up comedy scene as part of THE ELITE, performing shows across Cairo and abroad.
His breakthrough came with MY GIRLFRIEND, a short film he co-wrote with director Kawthar Younis. The film flipped traditional gender roles and sparked conversation about modern Arab relationships. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and went on to win the Special Jury Prize at the Cairo International Film Festival, the Black Iris Award for Best Arab Short at the Amman International Film Festival, and Best Director at the Lenola Film Festival in Italy.
In Ramadan 2025, he starred in the hit TV series AYESHA EL-DOR alongside Donia Samir Ghanem and rising talent Amira Adeeb. The series gave him his first major dramatic spotlight, and he owned it. A year earlier, in Ramadan 2024, Ahmed took over the radio waves in NRJ Egypt’s hit comedy TADWER AQARY, teaming up with fellow stand-up stars Taha Desouky, Mohamed Helmy, Mostafa Tofi, Waleed El Moghazy, Ahmed Khairy, and Mohamed Ashraf — his longtime THE ELITE crew.
Cinema followed fast; in 2024, he joined an all-star cast in the ensemble film EL-SHANAB, acting opposite legends like Laila Elwi, Lebleba, Sawsan Badr, and Heidi Karam, alongside rising name like Hassan Malek. Then came SIKO SIKO in 2025 — a comedy adventure with Taha Desouky and Essam Omar. He’s currently working on two new films — one with Amir Eid called AHLAM EL SULTAN EL MANSY, which is set in the 90s, and another with Amir Karara titled EL SHATER, where he plays a character named Asfoura in an action-comedy setting. He’ll also be appearing in CATALOG: A Netflix original, marking his first appearance in a global streaming platform production.
Creativity runs in Ahmed’s veins. He is the son of two celebrated figures in the Egyptian arts scene: Actress Hanan Youssef, known for her impactful roles in both cinema and television, and legendary theater director Essam El-Sayed, whose work — including the landmark plays AHLAN YA BAKAWAT, ZAKI FI EL WAZARA, and BAHLAM YA MASR — helped shape modern Arab theater.
With a promising start to his career and MAD on the journey with him, Ahmed Essam is set to reach new heights in the industry.
