Amro Saleh is an Egyptian actor and TV anchor born in Cairo whose passion for acting started with school plays and drama clubs, he then studied at the American University in Cairo, majoring in mass communication and theater and minoring in film and literature.
The young star began his career on the small screen as a host on OTV Channel with four different shows before moving to Dream, where he hosted the famous youth show SHABABIK.
Since his breakthrough into acting, Saleh has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Youssra, Mohamed Sobhy, Yehia El Fakharany, and Mervat Amin.
His selective approach to roles — which he bases on their quality rather than their quantity — has led him to participate in over 30 projects, from TV dramas to films to short films.
Amro got his start in 2009 playing Nader in Mohamed Sobhy’s YAWMIYAT WANEES W AHFADOH — an extension of the beloved 1994 drama YAWMIYAT WANEES. He was then cast to play Adham on Ghada Selim’s KHAS GEDAN opposite Youssra. His role as Adham featured a memorable six-minute monologue which launched him into stardom.
He then starred in TV dramas AL-HARA and ARD KHAS in 2010 before writing the script for a radio show titled EL-MAHATA that was broadcast on Nogoom FM in 2011.
In 2011, Amro made his silver screen debut in Hady El Bagoury’s blockbuster WAHED SAHEEH, which was nominated for the Muhr Arab Award for Best Feature Film at the Dubai International Film Festival and won the Horus Awards for Best Director and Best Supporting Actress at the Cairo National Festival For Egyptian Cinema.
Saleh’s other film appearances included Khaled El Halafawy’s KEDBET KOL YOUM opposite Amr Youssef, Dina El Sherbiny, Mohamed Mamdouh, and Dorra Zarrouk as well as the Diab trios’ TALQ SENAI in 2018 opposite Maged El-Kidwani, Horeya Farghaly, and Sayed Ragab.
Amro’s repertoire also includes a variety of successful short films including PERSONA; WITHOUT — which won the Best Short Film and Best Actor Awards at the 2013 Luxor African Film Festival as well as a Special Award from the Egyptian Syndicate of Cinematic Professions — HARD TO FIND; ONE WEEK, TWO DAYS; and AL MAHATA AL AKHIRA.
As for the small screen, the young star made TV dramas his forte, showing off his incredible acting skills in a variety of roles in series such as three seasons of the acclaimed drama HEKAYAT BANAT, EL BALTAGY, AL HIKR, TAREEQY with Sherine Abdel-Wahab, ESTEEFA, AL HERBAYA, CASE C, the second season of THE BROTHERHOOD, BAYN EL SAMAA W EL ARD, and KHAREG EL SAYTARA.
Amro has also worked several times with director Mohamed Shaker Khodeir, starring in the second season of Moaez Massoud’s THE DEVIL'S STEPS in 2014 before collaborating with Khodeir again in 2017 in LA TOTFE' AL SHAMS alongside an ensemble cast that featured Mervat Amin, Ahmed Malek, Mohamed Mamdouh, Riham Abdulghafour, Amina Khalil and Jamila Awad.
Additionally, the young actor starred opposite legendary actress Youssra in two series after his 2009 debut — NEKDEB LAW OLNA MABENHEBESH and HARB AHLIA. He also starred alongside Yehia El Fakharany in BEL HAGM EL A'ELI in 2018 and lent his voice to a character on the Netflix drama INTO THE NIGHT as well as the Ubisoft video game ASSASSIN'S CREED MIRAGE.
As for Amro’s work in recent years, the star worked on EL NAZWA alongside Khaled El Nabawy, then appeared opposite Hend Sabry in the first season of the Netflix drama FINDING OLA and on Shahid’s MOFTARAQ TOROQ in the summer of 2024.
