Adham Shukr is a promising young Egyptian actor making his way in the industry. He began his journey in theater with the play COMPLETE STRANGERS, which he wrote and directed as part of the 38th Arab Theater Festival at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts before making his television debut in Peter Mimi’s military drama EL EKHTEYAR 3.
Shukr is now taking on a leading role in the 75th Berlin International Film Festival-bound blue-collar thriller drama THE SETTLEMENT, in which he plays Hossam, a 23-year-old troublemaker navigating life with his 12-year-old brother, Maro, in a marginalized community in Alexandria. After their father dies in a workplace accident, the local factory offers them jobs as compensation instead of legal action. As they settle into their new roles, they begin to question whether their father's death was truly an accident.
THE SETTLEMENT has received funding from several prestigious institutions, including IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund – Script and Development Initiative, IFFR’s Hubert Bals Plus Co-Production Minority Support, the Doha Film Institute, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, the Red Sea Development Fund, Fonds Image De La Francophonie Fund, and El Gouna Film Festival’s CineGouna Funding.
With a promising start to his career and MAD on the journey with him, Adham Shukr is set to reach new heights in the industry.
