Biography
Shahinaz El Akkad is the CEO of Lagoonie Production — a pioneer production house in Egypt and the MENA region — which has allowed her to support a list of trailblazing avant-garde films that went on to win numerous awards at festivals.
These films include FEATHERS, AMIRA, HUDA’S SALON, THE ALLEYS, DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN, BARRA EL MANHAG, ALAM, and INSHALLAH A BOY.
El Akkad also produced several commercially successful films, like FARQ KHEBRA, RAS EL SANA, SA'ET EGABA, and the family comedy film A’AZ EL WELD.
Besides films, she produced a number of remarkable TV series, including ANA SHAHIRA ... ANA ELKHA’EN and NEMRA ETNEIN.
Furthermore, she has been keen to support the Arab cinema industry by offering awards to film projects at international film festivals like Toronto, Venice, El-Gouna, and Cairo.
Most recently, Lagoonie released Amir Ramsis’ A NOSE AND THREE EYES — an adaptation of Ihsan Abdel Quddous’s novel that held a successful world premiere at the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival followed by an admirable commercial run — and Hani Khalifa’s FLIGHT 404, which had a stellar commercial release, topping Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s box offices for weeks.
