Biography
Omar Roushdy Hamed is an up-and-coming Egyptian director born in July 1987 who graduated from the High Institute of Cinema and trained with some of the biggest names in Egyptian cinema such as Sherif Arafa and Marwan Hamed.
Hamed started off his career by working as an assistant director on many projects, including both EL-GEZIRAH (2007) and its sequel EL-GEZIRAH 2 (2014), as well as WELAD ELAM (2009), and X-LARGE (2011) alongside Sherif Arafa.
He then set his sights on the smaller screen, working as an assistant director and second unit director on the first and third seasons of the medical drama LAHAZAT HAREGA (2007) alongside Sherif Arafa, Marwan Hamed, and an elite group of directors; L'A'LA SE'R in the 2017 Ramadan season alongside Mohamed Gamal Al-Adl; and Mariam Naoum’s KHALI BALAK MEN ZIZI in 2021 alongside Karim El-Shenawy.
Hamed eventually helmed both seasons of VIU’s original series ANSAF MAJANEEN (2021), and five out of eight episodes of the highly successful and acclaimed Shahid original series BIMBO alongside Amr Salama.
Aside from his film and TV work, Hamed boasts an impressive repertoire of ads for several high-profile entities, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, El Orman, L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and Vodafone as well. He’s also worked on music videos for Assala and Masar Egbari.
