Biography
Mohamed Attia is an Egyptian award-winning production designer and art director who has established a prominent name in the industry across Egypt and the Arab region. His latest works include the Ramadan 2023 series UNDER GUARDIANSHIP (TAHT EL WESAYA) starring Mona Zaki, which is available on Shahid.
He started his career in 2004, working on KLEPHTY film by director Mohamed Khan. Following that, he collaborated with prominent directors on key Egyptian films, including Mohamed Khan once again on FI SHAKET MASR EL GEDEEDA, Marwan Hamed on the horror film series THE BLUE ELEPHANT, THE ORIGINALS, and DIAMOND DUST, Yousry Nasrallah on BAAD EL MAWKEAA (After The Battle) and EHKY YA SCHEHERAZADE, Tarek Alarian on WELAD RIZK (Sons of Rizk) film series and Ahmed Alaa Al Deeb on AL AREF: AWDAT YOUNIS (The Knower).
Attia's astounding talent has won him several awards throughout his career, including 5 Best Set Design Awards from the Annual Film Society Festival For Egyptian Cinema, and Best Art Design from the Egyptian National Film Festival. He also won Best Art Director Award from the Egyptian Catholic Center For Cinema as well as the Gold Award from Cairo Design Award, in which Attia was a jury member in 2021.
Moreover, he worked on ABLA FAHITA: DRAMA QUEEN — which was released on Netflix — and AFRAH ALQOBA by Mohamed Yassin, where he created a world inspired by the aesthetic of the 1970s. Attia’s work also includes the design for the musical play COCO CHANEL, which marked Sharihan’s remarkable comeback, and the crime drama EL TAMANYA (THE EIGHT), which is available on Shahid.
Collaborating with many local and international brands, Attia entered the advertising and marketing field. He worked for famous brands like Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Vodafone, Etisalat, Orange, and Telecom Egypt (WE), among others. Furthermore, he worked on a number of video clips, collaborating with key stars across the Arab world; Amr Diab, Assala Nasri, Angham, and Samira Said.
On another note, Attia was one of the key names behind various public events. In addition to 'The Pharaohs' Golden Parade', he was the production designer and art director behind the parade that celebrated the restoration of Luxor’s Al-Kebash Road (Rams Road). Before these two spectacular events, Attia worked as a production designer on big events like the World Youth Forum, the latest four consecutive editions of the Cairo International Film Festival, and the third edition of El Gouna Film Festival.
