Egyptian actress Jamila Awad received the Best African-Asian Actress Award for her role in Al Daif film at the New Vision International Film Festival in the Netherlands.
During 2019, Jamila starred in the comedy hit Sabaa El Boromba,opposite Egyptian actor Ramez Galal. The film was a box-office success, exceeding EGP 45 million. She was also honored at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport for setting a good example for youth. Awad starred in Al Daif (The Guest), which was released in theaters earlier this year.
Al Daif tells the story of a young man who visits a family during dinner, and then the events develop in a direction that no one expects. Alongside Jamila Awad, the film stars Khaled El Sawy, Ahmed Malek, Shereen Reda, and guest stars Maged El Kedwany, Mohamed Mamdouh, Arfa Abdel Raoul and Mahmoud Al Lithy.
Al Daif landed its world premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, where it won the Audience Award.The film also screened at several international film festivals, including the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam, Manarat Mediterranean Film Festival in Tunisia, and the Festival International du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Tétouan, where it competed in the Official Competition. Al Daif was released in Jordanian theaters last April.
Born and raised to an artistic family, Jamila Awad made her breakthrough role as Hania in Taht Al Saytara TV series (2015), which won her the Dear Guest Award for Best Young Actress. Awad later starred in a number of blockbusters and TV hits, including Hepta: The Last Lecture (2016), La Totfe' Al Shams (2017), Al Daif (2019), in addition to her latest role in Sabaa El Boromba (2019).
