Egyptian star Jamila Awad has recently joined the cast of the upcoming TV drama Iila Ana. Written by Naglaa Al Hedeny and directed by Miryam Ahmadi, Awad will star in Abyad Wardy (working title), one of the six stories of the TV series.
Iilaa Ana is a TV series that takes the format of six different stories, each running for ten episodes by different writer, director and stars. All stories are inspired by real life events that spotlights thorny issues that have always troubled the local community.
Jamila's latest film Banat Sanawy was released in Egyptian theatres to a huge success in January 2020. The film was praised by film critic Tarek El Shinnawi, who described it as "A different adventure from today’s mainstream projects".
Recently, she won Best African-Asian Actress Award at the New Vision International Film Festival in the Netherlands for her role in Al Daif. She was also honored at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport for setting a good example for the youth.
Jamila Awad is an Egyptian star who grew up in an artistic family. Her name was propelled to stardom with her breakthrough role as Hania in Taht Al Saytara TV series (2015). She also won several awards within the same year, including the Dear Guest Award for Best Young Actress. Jamila later starred in a number of blockbusters and TV hits, like: Hepta: The Last Lecture (2016), Al Daif (2019) that world premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, where it won the Audience Award, Sabaa El Bromba (2019) that grossed more than EGP 37 million, as well as the TV hit La Tottfe' Al Shams that premiered in Ramadan, 2017.
