Biography
Kaan Urgancıoğlu is a Turkish actor best known for his role as Emir Kozcuoğlu in the hit TV series ENDLESS LOVE — a commercial success in over 100 countries worldwide — and his role as Ilgaz Kaya in FAMILY SECRETS, for which he won a Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actor. Both are notably the only Turkish series to win International Emmy Awards, with ENDLESS LOVE breaking the record as the first.
Of mixed Turkish, Syrian, and Albanian descent, Urgancıoğlu got his first role as the lead actor in KARAOĞLAN, a 2002 adventure series based on a historical comic book by the same name. In the iconic period-piece, set between the 12th and 13th centuries, Urgancıoğlu played a dashing young adventurer who travels throughout the Eurasian steppe.
Kickstarting Urgancıoğlu's career with a promising head start, the actor went on to star in a number of works, including seven TV series and two films between 2005 and 2006.
In 2007, he landed a leading role in the comedy SON DERS, and in 2008, he travelled to the US to hone his talents as an actors.
More recently, in 2020, he starred in the Netflix original series LOVE 101, as well as the platform’s hit original films IN GOOD HANDS and IN GOOD HANDS 2, where he brought an unbridled emotional authenticity to his roles.
On the international forefront, Urgancıoğlu starred in the action-packed JACK RYAN, as well as Guy Ritchie's 2023 spy flick OPERATION FORTUNE: RUSE DE GUERRE, alongside icons Jason Statham and Hugh Grant.
Known for his remarkable capability to embody a diverse array of roles compellingly, Urgancıoğlu has certainly made a name for himself both regionally and around the globe, cementing himself as a Turkish star of legendary status.
As for his glittering accolades, Urgancıoğlu was bestowed Best Supporting Actor at the Ayaklı Newspaper Awards for his unforgettable role in ENDLESS LOVE, and Best Actor at both the 12th Unimpeded Life Foundation and the 48th Golden Butterfly Awards for his iconic performance in FAMILY SECRETS.
