Hend Sabri reigns as one of the most prominent actresses in the Arab World, boasting a career that spans over 50 works in cinema, television, and radio.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with some of the Arab World’s most prominent directors, including Moufida Tlatli, Kaouther Ben Hania, Mohamed Khan, Yousry Nasrallah, Daoud Abdel Sayed, Sherif Arafa, and Marwan Hamed, on landmark films and blockbusters of Arab cinema, sparking meaningful conversations and touching the hearts of millions around the globe with her powerful performances.

Her acting prowess has earned her over 40 accolades and awards along the way, including the Faten Hamama Excellence Award at the Cairo International Film Festival and the Starlight Cinema Award at the Venice Film Festival, becoming the first Arab woman to receive the award.

Sabri’s journey began in 1994 with the renowned Tunisian director Moufida Tlatli, who chose her for lead roles in the films THE SILENCE OF THE PALACES and THE SEASON OF MEN.

Following this, Hend starred in several Tunisian productions, including Nouri Bouzid’s CLAY DOLLS, until she drew the attention of director Inas Al Degheidy, who introduced her to the Egyptian cinema through MEMOIRES OF A TEENAGER (Muzakirat Murahiqua) in 2002.

Since then, Sabri has become a first-rate pick actress, appearing in some of Egypt and the Arab World’s greatest cinematic and television works, assuming the lead role in films like A CITIZEN, A DETECTIVE, AND A THIEF; DOWNTOWN GIRLS; THE AQUARIUM; THE BEST OF TIMES; the EL GEZIRA and THE TREASURE duologies; THE YACOUBIAN BUILDING; IBRAHIM LABYAD; THE BLUE ELEPHANT 2; and KIRA & EL GIN.

In addition to her commercial success, Sabri has starred in critically acclaimed films popular on the festival circuit, including Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania’s documentary FOUR DAUGHTERS, which won three prizes at Cannes 2023, received a standing ovation, and won a César Award for Best Documentary Feature Film, along with a nomination for Best Documentary at the 2024 Academy Awards.

On the television front, she gained acclaim for her roles in the popular TV comedy AYZA ATGAWEZ and the hit drama series EMRATOREYET MEEN and HALAWET EL DONIA.

Recently, she reprised her role as Ola Abdelsabour from the 2010 hit series AYZA ATGAWEZ in the two seasons of the massively successful Netflix Arabic series FINDING OLA, where she also serves as an executive producer, making her the first Arab artist to sign with Netflix as both an executive producer and star in a series.

Her recent television works also include the Arabic adaptation of THE GOOD WIFE, MOFTARAQ TOROQ, which was released in 2024 to widespread popularity across the Middle East.

An influential figure in the fashion world, Sabri has been the face of many international brands, including being named the brand ambassador for the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen in the Arab World. Additionally, she is the first woman from the Arabian Maghreb to represent Garnier in the region and is a friend of the Maison Cartier.
In 2023, she co-founded the clothing brand Second Chance, which was born from her friendship and shared passion for fashion with talented designer Rym Turki—the owner of Atelier Dubai. Aiming to offer modern, attractive, and elegant clothing that reflects the unique identity of Arab women, the brand allocates part of the profits to civil society organizations focused on community development through fashion.

Sabri has served on various juries and held numerous administrative and honorary positions in film festivals.
Notably, she was the first Arab artist to join the Official Competition Jury at the 45th International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 2016.

A Big Warm Heart
  • Tunisian actress Hend Sabri has been actively engaged in social and humanitarian work.
  • Since 2009, she has collaborated closely with the UN World Food Program to raise awareness about hunger in the region, officially becoming a WFP Regional Ambassador against Hunger in 2010, and in 2021, she was honored with the WFP Nobel commemorative pin and certificate in recognition of her dedication and service, contributing to the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the organization.
  • However, in protest against the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians in Gaza, she resigned from the role in 2023.
  • Additionally, she played a prominent role in the Facebook campaign inspired by the Arab Spring titled ‘The Uprising of Women in the Arab World,’ which advocated for gender equality in alignment with the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, promoting freedom, independence, and security for Arab women. In 2015, she delivered an inspirational speech about her mother at TEDx Cairo Women, held at the American University in Cairo.
  • Her advocacy also extends to various campaigns, including anti-terrorism initiatives, tourism promotions in Egypt and Tunisia, and fundraising for the establishment of the first cancer hospital in Upper Egypt.
