A young Sudanese actor of Egyptian origins, Mustafa Shahata was born and raised in Sudan where he obtained a diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant. Little did he know that his specialization shall inspire his stellar performance in You Will Die at Twenty where he perfectly depicted the perplexed emotions of the patients' journey from pain, to fear, and finally happiness.
Since his early childhood, Mustafa was best known for the hilarious impressions he perfectly nailed among his family members and circles of friends. Later on, he presented comic sketches with his friends online that soon went viral on the different social media platforms.
Simultaneously, Shahata joined different acting workshops that added to his skills and paved the way for different auditions until he was selected by Sudanese director Amjad Abu Alala for his award winning film You Will Die at Twenty. The film received wide acclaim in international film festivals and won the Best Debut Feature at the Venice Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the Carthage Film Festival (JCC), and was Sudan's official submission to the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film in 2021.
Mustafa also joined the Berlinale Talent in 2020 within the Berlin International Film Festival, was selected as a jury member at the Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar 2020, and Al Ain Film Festival in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
