With her exceptional talent, well-chosen roles and astounding beauty, Jamila managed to rapidly build a solid name in the Arab entertainment industry. After her unique performance playing the role of the troubled teenager Hania, Jamila Awad earned the hearts of audiences and critics alike.

In the following year, Jamila took part in the blockbuster Hepta: The Last Lecture (2016) that garnered the highest revenues for a romantic film in the history of the Egyptian box office.

In 2017, Jamila returned to the small screen with another complex character in La Totfe' Al Shams TV series. Jamila’s talent secured her a global presence as well for her role in the film Al Daif (2018) that premiered at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and nabbed an Audience Award. Reaping a Best African-Asian Actress Award at the New Vision International Film Festival in the Netherlands for her role in Al Daif, the award was her first international one, after scooping many local awards and honors. In parallel with this, Jamila broke into the world of comedy with her role in Sabea El Boromba film that was a great success during Eid al-Fitr season. In 2019, Jamila participated in the "Social Media: The Silent Producer" panel within the events of Cairo Industry Days, held on the margins of the 41st Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF). The panel’s discussion highlighted how social media affected the film industry nowadays. In the following edition of CIFF, she joined a panel discussion under the title: “Mind My Gender: Being a Woman in the Creative Industry” that discussed the lingering awareness of gender difference, and brokedown the progress they have witnessed with inclusivity and equality, and what remains to be done to make the sector a level playing field.

In 2020, Jamila was selected to join as juror at the Student Film Competition within the 6th Alexandria Short Film Festival. Her latest film, Banat Sanawy, written by Ayman Salama and directed by Mahmoud Kamel, was released in theatres to a tremendous success among the audience and the critics in January 2020. Most recently, her remarkable performance as a Vitiligo patient in the TV drama Lazem A'eish, was screened to a massive success and scored the highest viewership rates with positive reactions on social media and Google. Jamila was featured on the magazine cover of Elle Arabia in a look inspired by the character she played in Lazem A'eish. She also won the Best Young Actress Award from the Arab Stars Festival. Written by Naglaa Al Hedeny and directed by Miryam Ahmadi, Abyad Wardy is one of the six stories of the drama. In Ramadan 2021, Jamila starred opposite Yousra in the family drama Harb Ahly (Civil War), and took part in the ad campaign 500500 Hospital among an extensive number of stars including Mohamed Farrag, Karim Fahmy, Tara Emad, to name a few.

Currently, Jamila is preparing for the new film, Arousty by director Mohamed Bkeir, where she will be starring opposite Ahmed Hatem.
